Justin Townes Earle – Harlem River Blues

Rating: ★★★★½

On his 3rd album “Harlem River BluesJustin Townes Earle gives the Big Apple a little twang. It’s a little blues and a little rockabilly and it’s a whole lot of musical enjoyment! He’s a modern day Woody Guthrie giving us witty and contemporary lyrics. The sound of Nashville collides with present day New York in songs like “Waking Up in Brooklyn” and “Working For the MTA”. In “Learning to Cry” Earle sings “I’m learning to cry since she walked out on me” a familiar blues inspired song of lost love, and difficult emotions for a Nashville man. Earle’s peaceful voice will lure you in and leave your heart feeling warmer. It only takes a quick listen to the 1st track “Harlem River Blues” to get hooked!

Must hear tracks: “Harlem River Blues” and “Ain’t Waitin’

About Mommy_dani

The place I get to listen to music is in the minivan, without kids, on my 40 minute ride to and from work. That’s when I can listen to it as loud as I want, sing along, swear and skip as many songs as I want! I’m a big fan of the skip…I don’t have a lot of time to listen to stuff that doesn’t interest me! I’m not a music connoisseur, good or bad I like what I like!
