Poppy hooks, strong melodies, positive message… wait a minute is this Christian Rock? Well, kinda. The Afters are signed to spiritually charged label INO records, and publicly make no effort to hide their beliefs, but Never Going Back to OK is in no way preachy, praise ridden affair. The Texan outfit would be as much at home on any pop, college, or inspirational radio station, though more likely as a couple of select tracks loaded in your pop-rock playlist.
From the chorus laden intro track “The Secret Parade” to the Beetles inspired closing track ”One Moment Away” Never Going Back to OK was a pleasant surprise.
