Ke$ha – Animal

Ke$ha – Animal

Rating: ★★★★☆

WOW!  You’re gonna loose yourself in Ke$ha’s debut album Animal’s  beats. It’ll turn your kitchen or mini van into a dance club!  I loved every single cheesy moment of it, a few slower songs lost the momentum but were still enjoyable.  My experience went like this track 1 “Your Love is My Drug” although a cliche title it had great danceable beats, track 2 “Tik Tok” need I say more, I think I’ve brushed w/Jack before, track 3 “Take it Off”  another great beat driven anthem…the first 3 tracks rock I’m in and the rest did not disappoint me!

Although I find Ke$ha’s sexually whiny voice oddly seductive I feared it might get annoying, but it was what made some of the songs.   She also toned it down for many of the tracks. I love that she can take you from a song like “Stephen” a love lost song about the one she’s so into she’d even knit a sweater for him followed by “Blah, Blah,Blah” this song features 3OH!3 telling the guy “Don’t be a little b*tch with your chit chat, just show me where your d*ck’s at”.   Hard to decide on favorites on this CD, there are a bunch that stick with me but the ones I keep singing to myself and skipping to are “Boots and Boys” a great girl anthem that deserves to be turned up and sung loud.  Another is “Dinosaur”, I felt a bit of a Le Tigre influence in this song about all the old pervy men lurking at the local night club, the chorus “D-I-N-O-S-A-U-R a dinosaur” reminds me of a time we were all spelling “Supersonic”.  Often times in a beat driven CD you find all the songs sound the same but I found many unique beats and influence in this collection, and probably many more radio singles.

If you love Tik Tok this CD will not disappoint you or  if you are simply looking for some new great dance music check her out!  I might have a little concern if I had a teenage daughter and I found her listening to it, but that just makes me sound old, I’d backspace but I guess I’m old enough to leave it.

The place I get to listen to music is in the minivan, without kids, on my 40 minute ride to and from work. That’s when I can listen to it as loud as I want, sing along, swear and skip as many songs as I want! I’m a big fan of the skip…I don’t have a lot of time to listen to stuff that doesn’t interest me! I’m not a music connoisseur, good or bad I like what I like!
