Black Country Communion – 2

With this kind of momentum behind Black Country Communion I can't see them slowing down anytime soon

Rating: ★★★★☆

Black Country Communion only waited a year after releasing one of the best albums of 2010 before dropping another blues rock classic on the world with “2″. it’s obvious that there’s no lack of confidence in the band since they demonstrate none of the usual hesitation in producing and releasing the often difficult sophomore album.

“2″ may not possess the same teeth as the bands first album “Black Country”, but what it lacks in bite it makes up for with finesse and substance. Opening track “The Outsider” will immediately blow your doors off! The strength Glenn Hughes’s voice is off the charts, I mean Damn the Dude has a serious set of pipes. “Man in the Middle” conveys a kind of hard rock pace giving the song a modern day edge. “The Ballad of Hadrian’s Wall” demonstrates a simplified formula being used by Black Country Communion making the bands music more memorable and identifiable. Joe Bonamassa’s guitar sound on “Smokestack Woman” are absolute perfection.

I didn’t feel this record was quite as heavy as it’s predecessor but BCC2 seems a more balanced record. Black Country Communion sounds like a band that’s making music together for years despite the short time these guys have been together. BCC2 lives up to the hype and should not be missed. With this kind of momentum behind the band I can’t see them slowing down anytime soon.

About Jeff M.

Jeff M. grew up in southern Alabama where he was a minority in his community for his open beliefs and love of Hard Rock & Metal. In his twenties, Jeff left the confines of his hometown and toured the southern United States as a drummer in a rock band. It was at this time that he began to develop his passion for beer & boiled peanuts. A passion that, along with his love of music would help to shape into the man he is today. In the battle between "The Road" and the love of his woman, his woman prevailed. So he married his sweetheart, packed his hellfire red Ford Ranger, and made his way to the Arizona desert, where still resided today. Jeff, formerly Maulermithel, began writing reviews and interviews for Little Rat Bastard in the fall of 2009 and has become one our primary regular contributors. Powered by Rooster Booster energy drink & his desire to rock he puts his opinions out there for the our readers consideration month after month.
